Br. Simon Ferrer Vettikunnel, OP, graduated with a degree in Information Systems from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's College of Business in 2020 and afterward pursued digital marketing in a corporate and remote setting for three years. But the draw of the Dominicans was strong, and he decided to pursue a vocation with the Order of Preachers. He was excited to study alongside fellow brothers of the Province of St. Martin de Porres (the Southern Province), brothers from the Central province, lay students, diocesan priests, and consecrated religious: “Studying at Aquinas Institute truly felt like an opportunity to study alongside the whole church.”⠀

The community at Aquinas has exceeded Br. Simon’s expectations, providing him with a perfect environment for study and formation: “Knowing that the very same questions I am pondering are engaging my peers is a source of great consolation for me.” He feels confident that Aquinas is training him to spend his life in Holy Preaching, in both word and deed. “The Holy Preaching animates my soul…The bread of the Holy Preaching is distributed when I am fed by closeness to Jesus, by knowledge of the truth about myself, about God, about others, and by the mirror of community life.”⠀
