Br. Paul-Marie Porter studied oil and gas engineering at the University of Texas at Austin before joining the Dominican Order, completing his novitiate in Dallas, and arriving at Aquinas Institute for theological study and formation. He has been especially encouraged by an emphasis at Aquinas on the search for Veritas (Truth): “A very exciting aspect of studying at AI is that Truth is the foundation. Through study and the Holy Preaching, we dissipate the false ideas we have of God—such as viewing Him as a rigorous rule-enforcer or distant and aloof. Rather, the God revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ is near to the brokenhearted and compassionate to sinners. Studying this Truth at Aquinas is shaping my preaching to draw people closer to the Truth Himself, Jesus Christ."
