Reverend Kurt Young graduated from Aquinas Institute of Theology on Friday, May 14th with a Doctorate of Ministry in Preaching. He strives to foster the faith and minds of students in order to spread the Word.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Fr. Young found his calling thanks to his parish priest and faith formation in high school. He now has the opportunity to serve a similar role for youth in his hometown.
“I chose to write my thesis on preaching for the adolescent listener,” he said. “This topic is important to me because I serve as a chaplain in a high school in New Orleans. The students at the high school are obviously yearning for good, substantial preaching that resonates with their experiences. It is my hope to provide some answers to their need.”
Fr. Young plans to teach courses in homiletics at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans as well as provide continuing education to priests in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
“Aquinas Institute has helped me to grow tremendously, not only as a preacher but as a student of the Word,” he said.
Part of the worldwide Order of Preachers, Aquinas Institute of Theology is a Catholic, Dominican-sponsored graduate school of theology offering multiple graduate degree and certificate programs on its campus in Midtown St. Louis, MO.
