Aquinas Institute 2022 Commencement Speaker: Alyce McKenzie, PhD
Aquinas Institute of Theology is excited to announce that Alyce M. McKenzie will deliver this year's Commencement address.
Alyce M. McKenzie is the Le Van Professor of Preaching and Worship and Director of the Center for Preaching Excellence at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Dr. McKenzie's specialties include preaching biblical wisdom literature, imagination and preaching, and spiritual formation and homiletics. McKenzie holds the PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary and is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.
Dr. McKenzie is the founder and Director of the Perkins Center for Preaching Excellence at SMU, a Center formed in 2013 dedicated to fostering excellence in preaching through innovative courses, workshops, peer groups, and online resources. The Center has started dozens of preaching peer groups around the Southwestern U.S.A. and beyond over the past 9 years.
One of her passions is helping new generations of preachers gain competence and confidence in their vocation of sharing God’s Word. She is frequently called on to be guest teacher/preacher at various lay and clergy gatherings and to consult with groups of clergy around the country on creating initiatives to foster preaching excellence.
