To ensure a successful academic experience at Aquinas Institute of Theology, we require international and non-native English speaking applicants to demonstrate that they are proficient in the English language.
Doctor of Ministry in Preaching
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required. Proficiency will be assessed based on the Preaching Case Study video and written documentation, as assigned in the application.
Masters’ Degrees, Certificate Programs, and Non-Degree Seeking Students
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required. Applicants are required to take either the TOEFL or IELTS test to demonstrate proficiency. All four parts of the computer-based TOEFL test are required; Aquinas' TOEFL code is 8191. The academic IELTS test is required. Exam scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to Aquinas Institute.
For admission to Aquinas Institute, the minimum TOEFL score must be 88, with a score of at least 22 in each section; the minimum IELTS score is 7.0.
Non-native English speaking applicants who possess a four-year bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree from the U.S., U.K., Canada, or Australia, or New Zealand may request to have the TOEFL/IELTS requirement waived within the application. Should the waiver be granted, applicants will be required to complete the MAT/GRE requirement.
