Fr. Lalo Jara, OFM, DMin
Rev. Dr. Edgardo Jara, O.F.M., D.Min, better known as Fr. Lalo, is originally from Ciudad Quesada, Costa Rica. Following his Franciscan vocation, in 2012 he joined the Holy Name Province, Order of Friars Minor. Upon completion of his novitiate, he was sent to the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, Ca., where he earned a Master of Divinity before being ordained a Franciscan priest in 2017.
He has been an advisor to the Small Ecclesial Communities (SECs) in the United States and a member of CEB Continental in the last 7 years. His interest in SECs is reflected in his doctoral dissertation at Fordham University, where accomplished a Doctor of Ministry degree. Currently, Fr. Lalo serves as the Director of the Office of Evangelization and Pastoral Planning, at the Archdiocese of Washington. Also, he is well known on the digital continent through his Podcasts “Cafeteando con el Padre Lalo” (Drinking coffee with Fr. Lalo) and “Fe+Café” (Faith+Coffee). In 2021, he was appointed by the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, USCCB, as one of the National Eucharistic Preachers for the National Eucharistic Revival.
