Assist Dr. Abril in the research and writing process for a work on its way to being published. This is a great opportunity for an academically-oriented student to learn more about the research, writing, and publication process, as well as to learn a lot in the area of evolutionary theology.
Graduate Research Assistant in Systematic Theology- Dr. Michael Anthony Abril
(This position is open only to 2nd and 3rd year students.)
Hours: 15/week
Reporting to: Dr. Michael Anthony Abril
Faculty area of scholarship/research: Theological anthropology, Christology, atonement (how the cross of Christ saves us), problem of evil
Overview: Dr. Abril needs help pursuing new research projects and organizing data from past research. The former involves reading and critically discussing texts together. This is a great opportunity for an academically oriented student to learn more about the research, writing, and publication process, as well as to develop knowledge in the areas of the atonement (the meaning of the crucifixion).
Duties:
- Complete weekly readings related to the project, produce written summaries of the texts
- Weekly meetings during which the student and Dr. Abril will discuss the significance of the texts and how best to incorporate the information into writing projects
- Transcribe notes and highlights from paper to electronic media
- Pick up, scan, and return library books
- Find media for lecture PowerPoints
- Develop reading questions for courses

Qualifications:
- Ability to be organized, self-directed, detail-oriented, and reliable
- Knowledge and interest in theological research
- Experience with various software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and structure/plan own time in relation to research tasks
- Willingness to learn how to accomplish computer tasks more efficiently
