ABOUT

Theresa Rice is a doctoral candidate in Liturgical Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to the PhD, she completed her MTS in Liturgical Studies (2022) and her BA in the Program of Liberal Studies and Theology (2020) at the University of Notre Dame.

Her research focuses on the body in Christian worship, particularly in material devotions (relics, sacramentals), narratives (hagiography, miracula), and liturgical art. Her dissertation analyzes the miracle narratives of Gregory of Tours to analyze how “ordinary” Christians shaped practices and beliefs about relics in the early medieval period.
