Master of the Order

Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner, III, OP, was elected 88th Master of the Order of Preachers, the successor to St. Dominic, in July 2019 at the General Chapter in Vietnam. Fr. Gerard is a son of the Province of the Philippines and the first Master of the Order from Asia.

Members of the Corporation

Rev. Louis S. Morrone , O.P.,  serves as Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great (Central Province), and with the members of his provincial council constitute the Members of the Corporation. 

Board of Trustees

Dr. Daniel O'Brien serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Aquinas Institute of Theology. Comprised of 25 members including members of the Dominican Order and lay men and women from around the country.

About our Governance

Aquinas Institute of Theology is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in the State of Missouri and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational entity.Aquinas Institute is governed by two bodies:

Board of Trustees

The Members of the Corporation are the Dominican friars who serve on the Provincial Council of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great, under the chairmanship of the Prior Provincial.

The Board of Trustees, appointed by the Members of the Corporation, is comprised of members of the Dominican Order and lay men and women from around the United States who are committed to furthering the mission of Aquinas Institute. The Prior Provincial and the Regent of Studies of the Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great and the President of Aquinas Institute serve as ex-officio members of the board.

Aquinas Institute is a Center for Institutional Studies for the Dominican Order

Designated by the Order of Preachers, Aquinas Institute serves as a Center for Institutional Studies charged with forming and educating Dominican friars to carry out the Order's preaching mission. Student brothers from the Dominican provinces of St. Albert the Great and St. Martin de Porres, all of whom live nearby at the Dominican House of Studies, attend Aquinas Institute for their theological and pastoral training.
