Aquinas Institute of Theology invites applications for a fulltime appointment as director of the Ashley O’Rourke Center for Health Ministry Leadership and as a regular faculty member in moral theology beginning 01 July 2019. Rank is open.
The school seeks applicants who can both serve as a liaison between Aquinas Institute of Theology and Catholic health care systems and teach students who are participating in master’s level degree programs. Strong candidates should possess a doctorate in Catholic moral theology or health care ethics and experience in working with health care systems.
The Ashley O’Rourke Center for Health Ministry Leadership at Aquinas Institute of Theology promotes the transformative potential of the healing ministry of Jesus by offering programs that integrate theological education and spiritual formation for leaders at all levels in Catholic health care. It will be the responsibility of the Director to develop and promote relationships with various Catholic health care systems in order to form theologically well-trained ministry leaders who can foster the mission of Catholic health care. Moreover, it will be the responsibility of the Director to execute the Center’s business plan (marketing, program development, execution and assessment, and creation of new initiatives to support the Center’s mission to Catholic health care).
In addition to the abilities indicated above, the successful candidate will show evidence of competence in teaching at the master’s level through online, hybrid, and on-campus courses, as well as an aptitude for research and writing. Moreover, the candidate will be expected to teach courses in moral theology to degree and certificate students pursuing ministerial vocations as priests, vowed religious, and lay ecclesial ministers. Students may also include health care ministry leaders enrolled in the Ashley-O’Rourke Center for Health Ministry Leadership and in the Master of Arts in Health Care Mission. The candidate must also show a promising research agenda (a three year plan and evidence of collegial collaboration with faculty and staff, men and women, lay and ordained.
Aquinas Institute is a Roman Catholic school of theology and ministry in the Dominican tradition, and successful candidates must express a willingness to support and contribute to that tradition. Hiring preference is given to members of the Central and Southern Dominican Provinces of friars. However, clergy, other religious (women and men), and laity are encouraged to apply.
