Our Lady of Guadalupe is a bi-lingual “personal” parish in North County. The parish was established in 1954, and in 1993 became an English-Spanish parish. By being a “personal” parish, people from anywhere in the Archdiocese may attend. There is an elementary school connected with the parish that serves pre-K to 8th grade children.

An intern will minister to a diverse community in one or more of the following ways: RCIA, catechism classes, Eucharist ministries, youth groups, food pantry, visiting shut-ins, Communion calls, day-school, ESL (English as a Second Language) or music.
*The student must attend the Archdiocesan workshop Protecting God’s Children prior to working in the parish.
*Each intern is required to have the Missouri criminal background screening completed with the results received before the semester begins.
*Illinois residents must have the Illinois criminal background screening completed with the results received prior to the start of the semester.

The days and the hours that a student will be responsible for working will depend upon the area of ministry that he/she chooses.

Supervisor's Bio/Additional Comments:
Sr. Cathy Doherty is a School Sister of Notre Dame. She has ministered at Our Lady of Guadalupe since 1992 as the Pastoral Associate. She has a master's degree in Liturgy from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana. She also is a faculty member of Paul VI Institute, works with the Archdiocesan Office of Worship, and serves on the Archdiocesan Board of Catholic Education.

Sr. Cathy would be available to mentor and serve as a resource for the student intern, offering support and assistance as the student faces challenges and learns how to deal with a variety of situations.

Sr. Cathy hopes to build, not only a learning experience with people, but to provide a witness to the student’s growth so he/she can see how relating to parishioners helps one’s spiritual life to grow.
