WHAT’S LOVE GOTO DO WITH IT? THE CHURCH AND MARRIAGE
Presented by: Ann Garrido, D.Min.
What’s love got to do with a Catholic marriage? Very little, if we define “love” as our larger culture defines it in terms of passionate feelings and romantic romps. Everything, if we define “love” as the scripture presents it in terms of faithful covenant, the building block of human society. Come reflect on the radical ideal of marriage that the Church holds up even as couples continually struggle against challenging odds to realize it. - February 1, 2011
FAITH AND DISCERNMENT: FINDING YOUR PATH IN LIFE
Presented by: Fr. Eric J.P. Wagner, C.R.
Everyone has questions big and small. Where is this relationship going? How do I feel about my job? Are the answers really in this book? Should I really eat this ice cream? Some questions demand responses, others bring forth deeper insights and some do both. In every case, arriving at responses and/or insights to the questions we face are opportunities to exercise our faith through the process of discernment. How do you attend to the questions you face? What role do culture, experience and the tradition of your faith have in the process of discernment? How do you know you have discerned well and arrived at the right response or insight. - April 5, 2011
LIVING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Presented by: Sarah Boul, MAPS
You can’t put “Live in the presence of God” on your daily agenda. It’s not meant to be one of many tasks to check off your daily to-do list. You can’t fit it into your schedule. We are an increasingly busy people—busy with very important matters and not so important distractions. As spiritual people, we hope to carve out time in our schedules to include God. And we fail. We fail because we treat our relationship with God, God’s holy presence, as if it was the same as all other things in our lives. Join in discussion about how we live and move in our days aware of God’s active presence within us, around us, and within others. You’re not too busy for God; you’re really not.
