DOORWAYS' Cooper House is comprised of a 24-hour supportive housing facility providing dietary, medical and social services for as many as 36 residents. Cooper House provides comprehensive housing for people living with chronic or acute health conditions that make it difficult or dangerous to live on their own.
DOORWAYS Residential Program consists of seven residential buildings throughout the City of St. Louis for individuals and their families who are affected by issues related to poverty and HIV/AIDS. These residents are capable of living independently, but their ability to pay fair market rent is limited due to financial and medical concerns.

An Aquinas student would function as a chaplain at Cooper House and our different properties. She or he would participate in personal support and group activities and have the opportunity to preside at simple liturgies and memorial services.
*Each intern is required to have the Missouri criminal background screening completed with the results received before the semester begins.
*Illinois residents are also required to have the Illinois criminal background screening completed with the results received prior to the start of the semester.
*A TB test must be taken prior to the start of the semester. DOORWAYS will administer the test at no cost to the student. Doorways will accept the results of  a student's TB test that has been administered by a healthcare provider as long as the test is administered within one month prior to the student's start day at the site.
*DOORWAYS strongly encourages staff members to have flu shots but does not require that they do.
The hours and days can be flexible as we operate 24/7.

Supervisor's Bio/Additional Comments:
Opal Jones became President and Chief Executive Officer of DOORWAYS Interfaith AIDS Housing on December 1, 2012. Since then, Ms. Jones has focused on growth strategies to increase the organization's presence both in St. Louis and throughout the country. In March 2013, Ms. Jones was asked to join the National AIDS Housing Coalition's Board of Directors in Washington, D.C.
Previously, Opal served as manager of DOORWAYS' residential programs. In this role, she oversaw operations and management of seven residential buildings with a combined 103 units at six sites in the City of St. Louis. In addition, she directed two Supportive Housing Programs (SHPs) including an eleven-unit project for homeless individuals, and an eighteen-unit scattered-site program for homeless families, all while managing a budget of over 1.2 million dollars.
About 60% of our residents are African American and about 60% are gay. Opal Jones will work with Board Members who are members of the clergy to provide supervision.
