St. John’s is a dynamic, casual, fast-growing urban parish. Down to 16 ASA in 2003, St. John’s ASA is now 90+, with a choir, Christian Formation for adults and children (including Godly Play - similar to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd), growing outreach ministries including our weekly Peace Meal Project every Saturday afternoon. If you want to learn about congregational re-development, this is the place for you!
Ministry Practicum Possibilities at this Site:
Preaching, teaching, helping with the Peace Meal Project (our food ministry), serving at the altar, learning about parish administration/nonprofit management, learning about congregational development and community organizing, visiting parishioners at home, leading bible study, etc.
*Pastor Teresa expects an intern at St. John’s to serve all people – poor and rich; lesbian, gay, transgendered, or straight; male or female.
*The intern would have to be comfortable working with a female Episcopal priest.
*If the intern has not done a comparable program, training in the prevention of child abuse and sexual misconduct are required by the Episcopal Church. Proof that the intern has completed this training is required.
*Each intern is required to have the Missouri criminal background screening completed with the results received before the semester begins.
*Illinois residents are also required to have the Illinois criminal background screening completed with the results received prior to the start of the semester.

The hours and days could be quite flexible, although Sundays are still the major focus of congregational worship and activity.

Supervisor's Bio/Additional Comments:
Pastor Teresa is from St. Louis, but lived on the East Coast and in Chicago for several years. She has supervised interns at The Center for Public Service and Social Justice at Yale, as well as serving as the Coordinator of the National Seminary Summer program through Interfaith Worker Justice. In the past few years, Pastor Teresa has supervised two seminarians from Eden Theological Seminary and two students from Aquinas Institute.

Pastor Teresa has an M.Div. from The General Theological Seminary, an M.P.P. (specializing in nonprofit management) from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in History (focusing on gender issues in the medieval Church) from Yale.
Pastor Teresa would expect the intern to meet with her for an hour (at least) every two weeks for reflection and discussion. Her approach to supervision would be collegial – she would expect the intern to set his/her learning goals and she would assist the intern to accomplish his/her own goals.
