Job Title: Collaborative Ministry: St. Charles Lwanga Center

St. Charles Lwanga Center is the collaborative effort of 11 sponsoring parishes located primarily in north St. Louis to pool resources to provide for the ministerial needs of their people. Yet, the scope of the Center is service throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis. It is located next to St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist, Catholic Church.

When our projects are scheduled during the academic year, students would have the opportunity to participate in planning and activities for the KUJENGA youth conference; preparation for Confirmation with our youth; help coordinate and devise workshops for adult faith formation; work in the Ministry of Consolation. In addition, the student could participate in guided instruction for the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Course at Saint Louis Catholic Academy next door to the Center.
*The intern must embrace the Catholic values and mission of the Lwanga Center.
*He/she must attend Protecting God's Children workshop before beginning the practicum. (St. Charles Lwanga Center will work with the student to find a convenient workshop.)
*The Lwanga Center prefers that the intern attends a two-day (3 hours each day) training workshop to become familiar with the material in order for the intern to successfully assist with instructing students.
*Each intern is required to have the Missouri criminal background screening completed with the results received before the semester begins.
*Illinois residents are also required to have the Illinois criminal background screening completed with the results received prior to the start of the semester.

Supervisor's Bio/Additional Comments:
Father Cavitt is the Executive Director of the Saint Charles Lwanga Center. He is a graduate of Aquinas Institute, having matriculated in the Master of Divinity program. In addition, he holds a Master of Arts in Education.

This site offers a wonderful opportunity to do ministry in a vibrant African-American community. It also offers a great chance to experience what collaboration between parishes is like, in an age where pooling resources will become more common.
