Msgr. William J. Hitpas & Rev. John Rogers Vien
This has been an exciting year for Aquinas Institute of Theology. The Order of Preachers are turning 800 (1216 - 2016) - a milestone we are celebrating throughout the year. In addition, the Institute is celebrating our 75th year of educating men and women to preach, to teach, to minister, and to lead
In honor of these two great milestones, we will recognize two great preachers this year as we highlight the importance of preaching in the Church today. This year’s recipients are Msgr. William J. Hitpas from the Archdiocese of Belleville and Rev. John Rogers Vien from the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Aquinas Institute of Theology is pleased to honor Msgr. William J. Hitpas and Rev. John Rogers Vien as the 22nd and 23rd recipients of its annual Great Preacher Award. The awards will be presented Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Rose of the Hill in St. Louis, with a VIP pre-reception taking place at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation and dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Aquinas Institute, sponsored by the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), instituted the Great Preacher Award in 1995 to recognize those, who by their words and actions, have contributed in an outstanding way to the building of the Catholic community. Aquinas Institute considers the Great Preacher Award a powerful means of renewing the Church and promoting good preaching while sharing its Dominican charism. The award is intended not only to sustain preachers of the Word but also to help Catholics become more attuned to hearing the Word.
