Description:
This office coordinates Hispanic ministry in collaboration with the local parishes and diocesan agencies in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Key objectives of the office include: Fostering a Pastoral de Conjunto (Communion in Mission) between archdiocesan parishes and agencies to better serve the Church; cultivating Hispanic pastoral leaders for ministry in parishes and the larger archdiocese; advocating on behalf of the Hispanic Catholic community, and facilitating the implementation of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry 2012-2017. Description of Ministry Practicum Possibilities at this Site: 
1) Catechesis: assist in the development and implementation of faith formation programs (e.g., programs for catechists, adults, family, marriage ministry, etc.)
2) Lay Leadership and Ministry Formation: assist in the development and implementation of lay ministry leadership initiatives (e.g., workshops, multimedia resources, parish presentation, etc.)
3) Pastoral Juvenil (Youth & Young Adult): assist in the development and implementation of programs to increase leadership skills and theological formation of young adults (e.g., workshops, multimedia resources, retreats, etc.)
 
Requirements:
*The student should:
  - be bilingual (Spanish/English).
  - have strong computer skills.
  - have strong oral and written communication skills.
  - be a practicing Catholic.
  - be comfortable in a multicultural setting.
*Each intern is required to have the Missouri criminal background screening completed with the results received before the semester begins.
*Students who are residents of Illinois must also have the Illinois criminal background screening completed with the results received prior to the start of the semester.
*The student must attend the Archdiocesan workshop Protecting God's Children prior to his/her internship if he/she plans to work with children.
 
Schedule:
The hours and dates are flexible (primarily driven by the ministry itself.)

Supervisor's Bio/Additional Comments:
Supervisor brings an intercultural approach to ministry and pedagogy. Areas of interest include Catholic theology (e.g., contextual theologies), ecumenical and interfaith dialogue and praxis.
 
*Intern should expect regular and intentional supervisory sessions.
*Approach is conversational with an emphasis on evaluating concrete desired learning and ministry outcomes.
*Use of theological reflection model.
