The Church celebrates a Year of Faith, beginning on October 11, 2012, the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and finishing on the feast of Christ the King, November 24, 2013. Pope Benedict XVI, in announcing this Year of Faith, called for it to "...be a moment of grace and commitment to a more complete conversion to God, to strengthen our faith in Him and to proclaim Him with joy to the people of our time."
