(St. Louis) Reverend Richard Peddicord, O.P., the President of Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri, will be one of the featured speakers at the Autumn Colloquium at The Aquinas Institute at Blackfriars, Oxford, England, on Saturday, 27 November, 2010.
The subject of the 2010 Autumn Colloquium will be “Réginald Garrigou-Lagrange and Some Disputed Questions in 20th Century Catholic Thought”. Réginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P., a key figure in 20th century thought, developed his philosophical questions in response to Henri Bergson and Maurice Blondel, and was significantly involved in the controversies associated with the nouvelle théologie.
Father Peddicord will join fellow Dominican friars Henry Donneaud, O.P., of the Institut Catholique de Toulouse, and Aidan Nichols, O.P., of Blackfriars, Cambridge, in discussing Garrigou-Lagrange’s thought. Respondents will be Philip Endean, S.J., John Sullivan, and Thomas Crean, O.P.
Peddicord is the author of The Sacred Monster of Thomism: An Introduction to the Life and Legacy of Réginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P., published in 2004.
The Aquinas Institute at Blackfriars was established in 2004 under the directorship of Fergus Kerr, O.P. It aims to foster study of St Thomas at Oxford through seminars, occasional conferences, summer schools, and programs that will bring international research scholars to the university each year.
