Aquinas Institute of Theology faculty member to be internationally broadcast on Catholic Radio Archbishop’s Hour regarding International Dominican Foundation
(ST. LOUIS, MO) – The Archdiocese of Santa Fe Catholic Radio Archbishop’s Hour will internationally feature Aquinas Institute faculty member and President of the International Dominican Foundation, Fr. Michael Demkovich, O.P., alongside Fr. Jean Jacques Perrenes, O.P., Director of the Dominican Institute of Oriental Studies (IDEO) on March 17th.
This special broadcast will focus on the Foundation’s support of IDEO and its promotion of a better understanding among Christians and Muslims via the work of scholars and researchers. The broadcast can be heard live via: http://ic2.christiannetcast.com/kxxq-fm.mp3 at 12:15 p.m. Mountain Time – or through a rebroadcast at 6:15 p.m. Mountain Time.
“The hope is to create greater awareness of the International Dominican Foundation – its work to support the project in Cairo, and projects in Jerusalem and Rome,” explained Demkovich. “These are projects that the Master of the Order has designated, which will benefit the universal Church and all people.”
The aforementioned projects, the École Biblique - a French academic establishment in Jerusalem, founded by Dominicans, specializing in archaeology and Biblical exegesis; the Angelicum – the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome; and IDEO all share in a rich history of Dominican study, prayer and preaching.
“These projects are the work of scholars who help us all understand more fully the Scriptures, God’s revelation, and other religions, which benefits everyone,” said Demkovich. “Not everyone has the ability or the time to devote to the years of learning and dialogue, so we need places like these that help us to remember the past, ponder the present, and proclaim the future.”
Demkovich considers this interview with Fr. Perrenes to be a rare opportunity for the Foundation to bring awareness to the United States via a national speaking tour and a radio broadcast.
“The Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s broadcast on St. Patrick’s Day will not only reach an immediate audience in the state of New Mexico by radio, but it will be globally broadcast through the internet,” said Demkovich.
Here in St. Louis, two opportunities will be made available to meet Fr. Jean Jacques:
* Tuesday, March 18th from 6-7 p.m. at the Washington University Catholic Student Center (6352 Forsyth Blvd - Saint Louis, MO 63105)
* Wednesday, March 19th from 10-11:30 a.m. at Aquinas Institute of Theology (23 S. Spring Ave.- St. Louis, MO 63108)
